There's no more child-friendly town on earth than San Pantaleo. From a certain time of the day onwards, the centre of the town is closed to traffic, and children of all ages get to run free on the streets. An increasingly rare sight these days, sadly. But when they do, the adults feel like giants as children of all nationalities swarm around merrily, looking just the right size for the little houses and streets of this small unspoilt town, just 10 minutes by car from the Costa Smeralda. The older ones play ball or hide and seek while the ones in the middle swap cards from their fantasy or monster collections. But it is the little ones who really come into their own as the slender strip of asphalt comes alive with the sound of their bike bells and laughter. Mixed in with the local children are the offspring of the summer regulars who flock in to San Pantaleo and the surrounding area from all over the world. The sight gives one the feeling that things are finally going in the right direction.
