Alisarda was started in 1964, the first year of the Costa Smeralda.
In Olbia a new wave of immigration from the countryside began: Olbia increased by 3,000 units. More than 200 thousand passengers were transported annually to the port of Olbia. The traffic of goods and passengers increased. The economic boom was facilitated by the investment of the Costa Smeralda.

Flying was very expensive in those years. The airport activity was directed mainly to the rich like politics, big industrialists, celebrities, princes and nobles. The venue Alisarda headquarters were established in Olbia-Venafiorita. The first aircraft who landed there was a Beechcraft C-45, 8 seats. A few years later, in 1966, two North 262 with 26 seats were purchased. In the 68' the passengers were under 20,000. People landing in Olbia were honored with garlands of roses by pretty girls dressed in costume.

With the progressive increase in tourist traffic to Sardinia, the Aga Khan made new investments: the North 262 were replaced with the Fokker 27 and the track of Vena Fiorita was adapted to the new requirements, covered with cement and bitumen. In '74 two DC9-14 took service in the Alisarda fleet, and the opening of the new airport Olbia - Costa Smeralda was celebrated.
